Docks with a low-carbon finish: Wearth Group exceeds standards and acts to reduce its impact

Since its launch in late 2024, Wearth Group’s mission has been clear: “Designing, producing, and distributing solutions so people can live in harmony within their ecosystems.”

This mission is reflected in a new floating dock offering with a low-carbon finishing and half the carbon footprint of an aluminum dock.

Since Poralu Marine, a Wearth Group subsidiary, was founded more than 40 years ago, it has built its foundations on an infinitely recyclable material—aluminum. It’s a pragmatic choice that meets the challenges of building and developing harbors and marinas.

In 2026, Wearth Group has taken this approach one step further, launching a dock with a low-carbon finish. The new finishing, “Harmony”, complements the Poralu Marine range, halving the carbon footprint without impacting technical performance.

The "Harmony" finishing is the result of an in-depth focus on materials:

  • Using recycled aluminum (up to 75%)
  • Making floats from recycled polyethylene (50%)
  • Choosing recycled polystyrene (80%)
  • Developing a deck made using recycled and bio-based materials, including rice husks.

True to its high-end positioning, Poralu Marine is taking its focus on customized solutions even further. The brand’s customers can now choose between three finishes: Nautic, the standard level; Harmony, the low-carbon offering; and Premium, which combines low-carbon construction with a unique, visually appealing high-end signature.

An innovation built in real-world conditions

On paper, incorporating recycled materials may seem simple. In practice, it required several years of work to adapt manufacturing processes, secure supplies, and structure sectors that are still themselves new.

Poralu Marine has successfully rallied its ecosystem and convinced its suppliers to develop alternative solutions to meet its goals.

« Recycled materials exist. But incorporating them into a demanding industrial product without compromising on quality is a real challenge. These products now offer exactly the same performance as a traditional dock. Visually, nothing has changed, and there are no differences in terms of their use either », said Christophe Sauné, Business Development Director at Wearth Group.

A major reduction in the group’s environmental impact

« The group’s carbon footprint, conducted in 2021, showed that nearly 57% of its impact came from aluminum sourcing. Thanks to the low-carbon “Harmony” finishing, Wearth Group now has the opportunity to significantly reduce its impact and demonstrates, through this eco-design, that it is possible to be a market pioneer by offering a lower-impact alternative. » Anaïs Giraud-Guigues, Group CSR Manager.

« From communities and developers to investors, more and more projects are taking these challenges on board. Our aim isn’t to comply with an obligation. There isn’t one at the moment. What we’re doing is looking forward and changing market practices », said Quentin Bresson, Director of Public Affairs at Wearth Group.

This new finishing—which is still made in the group’s plants in Port, France—can be put in place across all of the group's activities, within its industrial processes and projects around the world.
